Mall of Asia is the venue of Airspeed fun run 2009, after finishing my first 5k run at 53:55 in the last condura race I was determined to break it at this race. I included speed training in my workout for 1 week. my target time is 50 mins flat.

We arrive at MOA 15 mins. Before the race, we are a little bit late. I, maman and gaby did our stretching and after being warmed up we all proceeded to the starting line.

I was the one who run first being entered in the 5k event 10 mins after the 3k will soon follow. I ran with my sister bien and friend eboy. While the mother and daughter tandem of maman and gaby ran the 3k.

The airspeed fun run is not as big as condura, yet the atmosphere is still the same. you can feel the enthusiasm and passion of the runners. I suddenly remembered when I was starting to make a name in tennis I even competed in small tournaments as far as bicol in south and vigan in north but my hunger for winning is the same as competing in national tournaments in manila. Like the runners their drive to cross that finishline is the same as my determination to win that tennis championship.

This is how you measure the success of an event it doesn’t matter if it’s big or small. It is on participants who always give their best no matter what. And I’m determined to run faster in this event and chop a few minutes from my previous time.

And when I finally crossed the finish line I had a glimpse of my time and I was not sure of what I saw until it was officially released and my time is 47:37 almost 6 mins faster than may previous PR. its a new PR for me I was very happy of the result and also to my surprise my daughter Gaby age 5, won the youngest finisher in 3k event

I run and finished the 5K event, even though I have only 1 week preparation. I still manage to finish my first 5K in one piece. It felt good, it’s like I won the race. For a 235 lbs. first timer its a big achievement. Actually its not just me it’s my whole family, Maman and Gaby also run in the 3K event and like me they enjoyed it.

It’s also an added bonus that condura fun run 2009 is our first. We didn’t know that this event is huge, We saw a lot of VIP’s, celebrities and national athletes. It’s good that event like this can unite people from all walks of life from the tycoons Joey Concepcion and Jaime Zobel de Ayala, celebrities like Tessa Prieto, Rovilson Fernandez and Phoemela Baranda to us ordinary pinoys.

Running is really addicting that’s why it’s the newest craze in town after badminton. with races scheduled every two weeks it would be a busy year for runners.

My First Race Bib for Condura Run
Nike Park RObinsons Ermita

After registering in the Condura Run at Nike Park Robinson’s Ermita, I finally received my first Race Bib. I’m not really sure what i felt but I was happy that finally I’m going to do it. It was last year when the idea of me, joining a marathon or some sort of running event occurred. Even though I’m not that prepared and I’m still overweight but what the heck ,I’m in.

The race is on the 22nd of March and I have 3 weeks to prepare. This is my first 5k and first fun run, I also registered my fiance Maman and our daughter Gaby in the 3k event. See you at the finish line.
